Kevin McDermott

I first met the Towne family when they moved to Union City somewhere around 1970. Some of my fondest childhood memories include them. From Bill with his cool "62" Oldsmobile and Juanita with her tough as nails attitude and ability to run on stones barefoot without pain, Davids bigger than life personality, Dale's fearlessness and Daryls funny demeanor. Kenny always seemed quiet and thoughtful. My favorite was Cheryl with her feminine qualities. I would like to give you all credit for helping me through my difficult childhood by offering your friendship and company. I was always envious of your ultra casual lifestyle and would like to believe that most of my relationships were modeled after what I learned from all of you. I recently lost my wife to cancer and am dealing with my own loss so i understand the final-ness of what you are experiencing. A couple things i've carried into adulthood that I learned from you are, shoes aren't necessary and feet are washable. I actually still go outside shoeless every day of every year. Sometimes it takes something like this to slow down and acknowledge the people that meant something in your life. You always had each others backs and that is a quality not seen often enough. I'm sad for you loss and would look forward to a conversation with any of you. I'm sure I would enjoy your company just as I did 40 years ago. Kevin McDermott
