Prospect - Mrs. Gloria E. (Zdanowicz) McClean, age 76, of 120 Summit Road, died peacefully Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. She was the widow of Norman M. McClean. They were married for a wonderful 38 years before his passing.

Mrs. McClean was born in Waterbury on July 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Peter T. and Estelle (Novakowski) Zdanowicz. She attended Crosby High School in Waterbury and was a graduate of the Waterbury Hospital Nursing program. Gloria retired from Waterbury Hospital, where she worked as an R.N. for over 35 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plymouth and a member of the Waterbury Hospital Alumni Association.
Gloria was a patient, generous and loving person. She loved classical music, played the accordion and piano, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved her family and her cat “Cookie”, who was her constant companion. Gloria was a wonderful woman who will be missed by all those lives she touched.

Mrs. McClean is survived by her three children: one son, Michael J. McClean of Prospect, two daughters, Jeanne (McClean) Palmer and her husband Donald of Manchester and Linda (McClean) Farina and her husband Richard of Plainville. Gloria’s siblings: Stella Lorenz of Glenview, IL, Ruth Pinter of Oakville and Daniel Zdanowicz of Waterbury. Gloria’s beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Bethany, Benjamin, Julia and Joseph Farina and several nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her sister Esther Kinnane.

For Calling hours, friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26 Waterbury Rd. Route 69 Prospect. Burial will be in Lithuanian Cemetery in Waterbury.
