Antonio A. Pinho
1945 - 2020

Naugatuck, CT Antonio A. Pinho, 74, husband of the late Marie Almeida for 37 years, a long time resident of Sapulpa, OK and a recent Naugatuck resident, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2020.

Antonio was born on December 25, 1945 in Setubal, Freguesia de Bocage, Portugal son of the late Manuel and Idalina Pinho. For many years Antonio worked as a mechanic at Lee Gouveia’s Garage in Naugatuck. In 1988 he moved to Sapulpa, OK where he was employed as a mechanic for Parrish and Clark Dodge in Tulsa, OK. In 1991 Antonio and Marie opened A & M Auto Truck Repair in Sapulpa, retiring in 2006. Tony loved fishing, dancing, playing soccer and in his younger days racing cars. He loved to party with his family and his many friends and every Christmas he would have a fish fry for his customers. Tony was a good son, when he was a young boy in Portugal; he always made sure his Mom had the kindling she needed to light the fireplace. He was a good brother, husband and uncle and he truly loved life.

He is survived by his sisters, Prazeres Pinho Demers and her husband Arthur, Anna Pinho Tavares and her husband Fernando; his brother, Carlos Pinho and his wife Maria and several nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his sisters, Maria Alice Pinho Cascais, Irene Pinho Carvalho; his brother, Manuel Pinho.

The family would like to thank the staff of VITAS Health Care, the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital for their compassion, dedication and skillful care during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
