New Hampshire-John J. Hayes, 69 formerly of Naugatuck passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH.

Mr. Hayes was born on April 14, 1943 in Waterbury a son of the late James and Jeanne (Richer) Hayes. He was a Vietnam War Veteran having served in the US Air Force. He was retired from the Connecticut Experimental Station in New Haven where he worked as a chemist. He attended Naugatuck schools: St. Francis of Assisi, Naugatuck High School and graduated from the University of Hartford. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and various other outdoor organizations. He coached Union City Little League and a member of the VFW Post 1946.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
