Obituary for Richard Orrin Clark III

NAUGATUCK – Richard Orrin “Buddy” Clark III age 43 died suddenly at home on the morning of January 22 after a short illness.
Richard was born on May 8, 1979 at Waterbury Hospital to Mary Ellen (Muzzio) Godin of Meriden, and the late Richard Orrin Clark Jr. He was employed as a line service supervisor at Waterbury-Oxford Airport for more than 15 years.
Buddy was the devoted father to his beloved children Richard Orrin Clark IV and Lilyanna Michelle Clark. He was also a devoted and loving stepfather to Cadence Losacano, Lia-Sandra Losacano, Eddie Losacano, and Mikey Losacano.
Buddy graduated from Wilby High School in 1997 where he excelled in track and cross country and was the team captain for Wilby and led them to a division victory. He was an accomplished athlete in many sports and consistently made the boy’s baseball all-star team as short-stop and pitcher, and honored for his sportsmanship.
He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, camping, caving, bird-watching and would frequently take his children and stepchildren fishing. He was a creative inventor, carpenter, and problem solver who could fashion a cabin out of pallets, an old screen house, and a tarp roof.
Buddy also had a solid sense of humor, did well academically and spent his youth in Boy Scouts, getting into some mischief with his siblings and friends, making comedy videos and going to concerts.
He was a blessing and comfort to be around and unselfishly bettered the lives of all those he loved.
Besides his mother and children, Buddy is survived by his longtime partner Stephanie Hanlon of Naugatuck, a sister Cassandra Clark of Meriden, a brother Christopher Clark of Middletown, a sister Kelly Godin Capponcelli of South Hadley, Mass., his maternal grandfather John Muzzio of British Columbia, and his ex-wife and children’s mother Denise Clark of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by his brother Jason Clark.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 3:00pm-4:30pm at Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, CT 06770. A service will begin at 4:30pm. Burial will be private.
