Obituary for David Anthony "Dave" Dutton

Waterbury, CT David “Dave” Dutton, 60, husband of Diane (Ardry) Dutton, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on May 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born in Waterbury, CT on December 23, 1961 and was a longtime resident of Naugatuck, Connecticut. He turned his passion for cars into an automotive career as a diesel mechanic for forty years. Dave then joined the Middlebury Parks and Recreation team caring for the local parks and sharing his love for the outdoors. He found joy while fishing, camping, working on cars, and researching his next build. Dave opened his home to many animals over the years and was especially fond of his canine companions.

Dave’s greatest joy came from his family. He was married for 38 years to his high school sweetheart, Diane, and the proud father of two children. He enjoyed spending time with his four beloved grandchildren and loved preparing a big family meal. Dave also enjoyed time at the park with the newest canine addition to the family, Sully.

In addition to his wife, Diane, and his mother, Karen Accuosti, Dave is survived by his daughter, Danielle Dutton and her partner, Dean Beck of Waterbury; his son, Westly D. Dutton and his wife, Ashley of Southington; his grandchildren, Anthony, Ella, Jackson, and Payton; his sister, Cheryl Trochsler and her husband, Sean of Naugatuck; and his nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Westly R. Dutton.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers and to honor Dave’s memory, donations can be made to the Naugatuck Dog Pound at 508 Cherry Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
