Obituary for Mary E. Sheehy
Waterbury, CT Mary E. (Murphy) Sheehy, 88, widow of Paul F. “Duke” Sheehy, died peacefully on April 17, 2022 at her home.
Mary was born January 14, 1934 in Boston, MA daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Harrington) Murphy. Mary lived in Waterbury with her daughter Gail for the past 14 years, having lived most of her life in Naugatuck. Mary retired from Uniroyal, Inc., and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane Pereira and her husband, Manny Pereira of Watertown and Gail Sheehy of Waterbury; her son, Paul Sheehy and his wife, Roz Sheehy of Naugatuck; her 2 grandchildren, Dan Pereira and Jessica O’Rourke; her great grandson, Colin Bates; her sister and best friend, Anna Duarte of Boston, MA; her sister in law, Kathleen Sheehy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mary was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kara Cochrane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Monday, April 25, 2022 from 4-7pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
