Leonard Joseph Tarte
A proud, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather

Deep River, CT Leonard Jospeh Tarte, 76, husband of Betty J. (Moss) Tarte, died peacefully on February 9, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Tarte was born on October 5, 1944 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Henry Noel Tarte and Meria Marie (Villemure) Tarte and was raised in Waterbury where he attended Saint Anne’s School and W.F. Kaynor Technical High School. He worked for over 25 years as a machine operator at Lee Company in Essex, CT, retiring in 2018.

Lenny proudly served in the Army National Guard and he was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge 1784 in Westbrook, CT and a volunteer for the Fire Department-Fire Police Unit of Deep River, CT. He was an avid world traveler who loved the outdoors, especially camping, gardening and fishing. He was a proud, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather – he loved his family and they will miss him so very deeply.

In addition to Betty, his loving wife for over 31 years, Lenny is survived by his sister and brother in law, Jeannine and Bob St. Germaine; 8 children and their partners; several nieces and nephews and their partners and many grand and great grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
