Naugatuck, CT Mr. Carlos A. Brandao, 82, of Naugatuck passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Carlos was born on November 15, 1936 in Veiros Estarreja, Portugal, a son of the late Manuel Leite Brandao and Candida Tavares.
Carlos was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching his favorite team, S.L. Benfica play and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister, Amelia Teixeira and her husband, Antonio Teixeira of Naugatuck, CT, his children, Aurora Tavares, Beatriz McGinley and her husband, Patrick McGinley, Carlos Marques and his wife Adineia, Antonio Tavares and Jose Tavares and his wife, Esmeralda Tavares all of Naugatuck, CT, his seven grandchildren, Stephanie (McGinley) Gregorio and her husband, Brian Gregorio of Indian Land, SC, Kelly (McGinley) Hurley and her husband, Matthew Hurley of Watertown, CT, Danielle (Borges) Fernandes and her husband, Beto Fernandes of Waterbury, CT, Melissa (McGinley) Maher and her husband, Nick Maher of Edge Water, NJ, Matthew Tavares of Naugatuck, CT, Joanna Tavares of Jersey City, NJ and Ana Victoria Marques of Naugatuck, CT; six great grandchildren, Mackenzie Gregorio, Andrew Fernandes, Isabelle Gregorio, Cason Hurley, Gabriella Gregorio and Olivier Hurley, his nephew Antonio Teixeira and his wife, Laura Teixeira of Naugatuck, CT and his nephew Jose Teixeira.
His wife, Umbelina Brandao and his nephew, Victor Teixeira predeceased him.
There will be a private family service on Friday October 18, 2019 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours.
