Barbara J. Rickman
1957 - 2019

Naugatuck, CT Barbara J. Rickman, 62, wife of Robert Rickman, died unexpectedly on August 21, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital.

Among her many other talents, she was a passionate and skilled crafter, and an accomplished cook, gardener, spinner, weaver and winemaker. Barbara was, and will always continue to be, a wellspring of inspiration and a guiding light to all who were privileged to know her.

In addition to her husband Robert and her father Euga, Barbara is survived by her sons, Chris Rickman and his wife, Emily Rickman and Brian Rickman; her brothers, Roger Jackson, Michael Warren and Tony Jackson; her sisters, Kathy Jackson, Karen Jackson and Ann Edwards and several nieces and nephews.

The Oxford Historical Society was greatly saddened with the news of Barbara's passing. She was such a joy to work with at the annual fiber festival. She was not only knowledgeable, but friendly and happy to help everybody. We learned much from her work with spinning wheels, looms, and even flax production and preparation. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many traditional fiber artists. We will miss her and the joy she spread to others. Our prayers go out to her family at this difficult time.

I loved listening to Barbara share about her looming at our last family reunion. Barbara loved the simple things in life, faith, family, fellowship. It was always fun to see her crops and her handiwork.
