Obituary

Rose "Rosie" (Reale) Juliano
1922 2019

NAUGATUCK – Rose “Rosie” (Reale) Juliano, 97, entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Albert Juliano for 64 years before his passing in 2011.

Born June 11, 1922, in Naugatuck, Rosie was the youngest of four daughters born to the late Enrico and Filomena (Iafrate) Reale. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School class of 1940 and Waterbury Comptometer School. She was employed by Naugatuck Chemical Division of Uniroyal for 39 years in the accounting department. Upon her retirement, she entered the field of Real Estate with the Alyce Erickson Agency.

Rosie was a devoted and dedicated parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She and Al were past presidents of the St. Francis School Parents Club.

Rose was a volunteer at the Waterbury Hospital Gift Shop for many years, where she very much enjoyed meeting new friends. She also enjoyed knitting, making baby hats for the hospital, reading and baking; especially at Christmas, making Italian cookies and sharing them with family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed walking and dancing.

She and Al spent winters in Florida and summers in Narragansett, RI with family. She was a dedicated fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball team, and only on rare occasions would she miss a game. She loved fashion and showed it.

Rose was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cristoforo Columbo Society, past president of the Naugatuck Emblem Club and enjoyed being one of the “Fabulous Five.” She was also an Honorary Member for 52 years of the Naugatuck Women’s Club and member of the Dancing Troup.

Left to cherish her memories are her adoring children, Robert Juliano and wife, Mary Ann, of Farmington, and Nancy Harkness and husband, Dr. Steve Harkness of Foxboro, Mass. Her pride and joy, grandchildren Eric Juliano, of Canton, CT, Mark Juliano and wife, Wendy, of Farmington, and Sean Juliano of West Hartford. She also leaves two great granddaughters, Sofia Juliano and Audrey Juliano. She is also survived by her sister, Angeline (Dolly) Schultz of Naugatuck; sister-in-law, Alma O’Brien of Kentucky; nieces, Phyllis Krawcek of Wisconsin, Julie O’Brien of Kentucky and Elie Krusewski of Mystic; nephews, Jim Pape of Wolcott, Neil Schultz of Naugatuck, Dennis O’Brien of Georgia, David O’Brien of Kentucky and Jay O’Brien of Canaan, Connecticut.

Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Roland and Marcella Pape. She leaves her loving cat, Molly, and her angel, Linda Torre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. The family requests that all attendees proceed directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Rosie’s memory, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.

I am so very sorry to hear of Rose's passing. My mother Ann considered her one of her best friends. She was a wonderful woman. We exchanged Christmas cards every year. I will miss them . I still remember the cruise we went on. Again I am sorry . Laurine
