Waterbury, CT Hilda A. Moura, 94, the widow of Gabriel Lopes and Antonio G. Moura, died peacefully on May 25, 2019.
Hilda was born on May 24, 1925 in Mishawaka, Indiana the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Naia) Amador. Hilda was a former Naugatuck resident and was presently living at The Village at East Farms. Hilda was a retired employee of the chemical division of Uniroyal, Inc., a member of the Clube Uniao Portuguesa Ladies Auxiliary; the Naugatuck Women’s Club and was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Hilda Vaz and her husband, John Vaz, her step daughters, Mary Oliveira and Hilda Merolli and her husband, Roy Merolli; her grandchildren, John Vaz, Brian Vaz, Ann Daly (Kevin), Debra Schmetterling (Jack), Mark Merolli (Ines) and Paul Merolli (Cyrilla); her great grandchildren, Caitlin and Jessica Daly, David and Daniel Schmetterling and Josey, Jake and Catalina Merolli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to meet at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Hilda’s memory, contributions can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
