Obituary for Sally Thurston Ciarlo

Sally Thurston Ciarlo
1934 - 2019

NAUGATUCK - Sally Thurston Ciarlo, 84, passed peacefully into the arms of God, her Father, on January 14, 2019. Our Sweet Mother Mary gave her solace every single day of her life. She was born on December 25, 1934; the daughter of Freeman P., and Frances (Twitchell) Thurston. Sally graduated with a Bachelors degree of Business Administration from Quinnipiac College, and a Masters degree of Business Administration from the University of New Haven, She was an accountant for the state of Connecticut for twenty years. She leaves behind the love of her life, Daniel Ciarlo, her beloved husband. Sometimes, God brings special people into our lives, and she would certainly say, "Poppy" as all who know him, is that person. She also leaves behind her most beloved daughters, Sally Ann IIles and Jayne (Thurston) Williams, as well as Jayne's husband, Justin, (the son she never had!!) and Jayne and Justin's children, Zachary Thurston Williams and Julia Thurston Williams. Sally loved to watch her grandchildren play sports, particularly baseball and softball. Poppy and her son-in-law, Justin, even taught her how to "keep the book" so she knew when her kids were up to bat, or playing short or second base! She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as their wonderful spouses, and children, of whom, she loved with all her heart. In addition, Sally was blessed with an incredibly large family of wonderful cousins. She loved to regale all of us young ones with stories about the way it was when Aunt Molly would bring Sally and all of her cousins to the beach in Milford. Such an amazing life for such an amazing woman.
