Obituary for John Anthony Ieronimo

John Anthony  Ieronimo
Waterbury - Mr. John Anthony Ieronimo Sr., age 89, of 161 Split Rock Drive, died Saturday October 10,2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of June (Pesce) Ieronimo.
Mr. Ieronimo was born in Volturara Appula, Italy on March 1,1920 a son of the late Nicolangelo and Maria Donata (Pedicino) Ieronimo. He was retired as a self employed contractor and was a past president of the Local 260 Carpenters Union. He was a communicant of St. Peter and Paul Church in Waterbury and was a past president of the Holy Name Society at St. Thomas Church.
Mr. Ieronimo is a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II as an engineer with the 780th Petroleum Distribution Company in the China, Burma and India theatre.
Besides his wife, Mr. Ieronimo is survived by two sons: John Ieronimo Jr. and his wife Michelle of Trumbull and Raymond Ieronimo and his wife Lisa of Haverhill, Ma., one daughter: Maria Druan and her husband Thomas J. Druan Sr. of Watertown, one sister: Rita Maloney of Naugatuck and six grandchildren: Angela Druan, Thomas Druan Jr., Laura Druan Watson, Rachel Ieronimo, Gregory Ieronimo, and Alexander Ieronimo. He was predeceased by five brothers: Liberato, Luca, Costanzo, his twin brother James and Anthony Ieronimo and a sister: Julia Masotta.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday October 14,2009 at 10 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home to St. Peter and Paul Church in Waterbury for a Mass at 10:30 a.m.. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation 56 Franklin St. Waterbury, Ct. 06706. .
