Southbury, CT Louise J. Lawrence, 90, the widow of David A. Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 with her loving daughters by her side.

Louise was born on May 6, 1927 in Lowell, MA a daughter of the late John and Rose (Joyce) Montague. Louise was a Southbury resident for the past 8 years having lived most of her life in Naugatuck, where she retired from Lewis Engineering. Louise was known far and wide for the famous cookies she baked and generously shared.

Louise is survived by her daughters; Joyce Berger and her husband, Robert of Middlebury and Deborah Lawrence and her husband, Peter Mendelson of Avon; her grandchildren, David Berger and his wife, Wendy, Joshua Gibbons and Jessica Gibbons; her great grandchildren, Amelia and Benjamin Berger; her sister, Lorraine Horvath and her husband, Gus of Madison and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Louise was predeceased by her 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Louise’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital E.D. and Sacred Heart 5; the VITAS Hospice Care Unit and Dr. David Roer for their compassion, support and exceptional care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11am at St. John of The Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Louise’s memory, contributions can be made to VITAS Hospice Care Unit, c/o St. Mary’s Hospital, 56 Franklin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706.
