Obituary for Harold H. Mannion

Harold H.  Mannion
Naugatuck, CT Harold H. Mannion, 95, the husband of Mary Joan (Bradley) Mannion, died peacefully on January 10, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born on March 13, 1922 in Madera, PA a son of the late Henry and Anna (Reily) Mannion and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 62 years, where he was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Harold formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona, PA and he also retired from the Chemical Division of Uniroyal, Inc. He was a W.W. II U.S. Army Veteran who proudly served in the Pacific and European Theaters from 1942 -1946 as an x-ray technician aboard the USAHS Thistle. Harold was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and a life member of the VFW Crusader Post 1946. Harold adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and playing card games.

In addition to Mary Joan, his wife of 62 years, Harold is survived by his son, Christopher Mannion and his wife, Martha; his daughters, Maureen Norkowski and her husband, Michael; Jacqueline Rockhill and her husband, Robert and Katherine Carpino and her husband, Phillip; his grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Annie, Alexander, Daniel and Katelyn and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his brother, John Mannion.

Harold’s family would like to sincerely thank everyone at Hartford Healthcare Hospice and all of his caregivers, especially Holly, Denise, Louise and Pam.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to please go directly to church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue. In lieu of flowers and to honor Harold’s memory, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to St. Joseph Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326.
