Obituary for Rose A. Holland (Retkowski)

NAUGATUCK- Mary Rose Ann Holland, 80, the wife of the late John “Jack” Holland died on June 21, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Rose was born In Waterbury, CT on November 9, 1936, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Surovicz) Retkowski. Rose was a President of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a talented cake decorator and seamstress.

She is survived by her daughters, Maryann McLean and her husband David; Jo-Ann Holland; Jacalyn Holland; Francine Gliford and her husband John; Heather Bearz and her husband Howard; her sons, Joseph and his wife Kristen; Patrick and his wife Melissa; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sisters Diane Stronkowsky; Sophie Ann Francher; and her brother-in-law William Wade Holland. Besides her husband of 58 years Rose goes to join her parents; her brothers Frederick Retkowski; Stanley Retkowski; and her sister Vera Retkowski.

Friends and family are invited for a visitation on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 9 to 11 am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 12pm at St. Hedwig’s Church, 32 Golden Hill St, Naugatuck. Burial will be private.
