Naugatuck, CT - Helen J. (Pompano) Gesseck, 97, wife of the late Edward W. Gesseck, died peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Saint Mary’s Hospital with loving family by her side.

Helen was born on August 23, 1920, in New Haven, Conn. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Celentano) Pompano and Angelo Pompano, a Borough resident for most of her life, and a graduate of Naugatuck High School.
After graduation, she began a career with the United States Rubber Company (Uniroyal), the Lewis Engineering Company and the investment advisor firm of T.H. Fitzgerald & Company of Naugatuck.

Helen is survived by her nephews, Mark Pompano of Southington and Lt Col Jim Pompano, USAF, retired.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Those planning to attend are asked to please go directly to the church. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. To honor Helen’s memory, contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
