Ana Lucinda Lebreiro  Vagueiro
Naugatuck, CT Ana Lucinda Lebreiro Vagueiro, 95, died peacefully in the loving comfort of family members on Thursday, September 15, 2016 following a progressive illness.
Ana was born in Tras-os-Montes, Acoreira, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Lucinda Amelia Diaz and Luis Manuel Lebreiro.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Filomena Vagueiro, Lucia “Lucy” Smegielski and her husband Peter Smegielski and Rosalina “Rose” Vagueiro; her grandchildren, Peter Smegielski, Katie Smegielski, Deanna Ferris, Marissa Ferris and Savana Vagueiro da Fonseca; her great-grandchildren, Kayla, Lauryn and Ryan Smegielski, her sister, Maria Idalina Cabeleira and nephews Antonio Cabeleira and Tomas and Manuel Vagueiro.
Ana was predeceased by her former husband Francisco da Silva Vagueiro, her brothers, Joao Lebreiro and Antonio Julio Lebreiro and her sister, Maria do Ceu Lebreiro.
Before retiring, Ana worked at Naugatuck Glass Company and Uniroyal, Inc. She was also a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Clube Uniao Portuguesa in Naugatuck.
The family would like to thank the following people who gave her love and comfort in her last years of life. The staff at Glendale Center and Vitas Hospice Care; Maria Rodrigues, Maria Rebello, Marta Alzaphat, Peggy Wyant and Linda Lenart. Also, devoted caregiver Debbie Waldmann. Gratitude is also extended to Paulina Santos, Maria Martins da Silva and Father Francisco Eurico all from Our Lady of Fatima Church, who had her in their prayers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Those attending are respectfully asked to go directly to Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Monday, September 19, 2016 from 6-8pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Ana’s memory, contributions can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706.
