Obituary for Alphonse Zulpa

Alphonse  Zulpa
Naugatuck-Alphonse A Zulpa, age 90, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011. He was the widower of Dorothy (Johnson) Zulpa and the widower of his first wife Rita (Griffin) Zulpa.

Mr. Zulpa was born on April 26, 1920 in Waterbury, a son of the late Adam and Marcela (Adomaitis) Zulpa. He was retired from Johnson Metal Hose after 20 years of service and he also worked for Eastern Color in Waterbury for 10 years. He was a US Navy veteran having served in WWII aboard the USS Mercer. He was a member of the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks, an avid golfer and Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife of Naugatuck he is survived by his three step sons, Louis Johnson of Naugatuck, William Johnson and his wife Tameria of Naugatuck, and Philip Johnson and his wife Sharon of Colorado, one brother, John Zulpa and his wife Carol of Naugatuck, six grandchildren Wendy Johnson, Philip Johnson Jr., Stephen Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Natasha LaPlante and Dustin Niles. He also leaves one great-grandson, Bradley Carbone and nephew Jonathan Zulpa.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck for a mass at 9 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Lithuanian Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
