Naugatuck, CT Shirley T. Fleming, 91, the widow of James F. Fleming, died peacefully on July 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital while her daughters held her hands.

Shirley was born December 6, 1926 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Sathory. Shirley grew up in Waterbury where she graduated from Wilby High School. Shirley lived most of her married life in Naugatuck, retired from Uniroyal, Inc., and was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Shirley was a loving, caring and completely devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; and when possible, she enjoyed golfing and quilting.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Claudia Fleming, Patricia Wawer and her husband, David and Elaine Kosa and her husband, Frank; her grandchildren, Katrina, Kellie, Mandy, Michael, Shelby, Shay and Quinn; her great grandchildren, William, Carter and Evan and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Ernest Sathory and her sisters, Irene Sathory, Lorraine Ciarlo and Judith Holian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00am at St. Hedwig’s Church, 32 Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Shirley’s memory, contributions may be made to SPCA of CT, 359 Spring Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468 or to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
