NAUGATUCK- Nick Macri, 87, the husband of Janet (Petrucelli) Macri, died peacefully on June 15, 2018 in St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Nick was born on December 6, 1930 in Waterbury, CT son of the late Pasquale and Jessie (Lattanzio) Macri. Nick, an avid New York Yankees fan, grew up in Waterbury where he graduated from Leavenworth High School. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. Nick lived most of his life in Naugatuck where he was the owner of Mountview Opticians, a member of the Naugatuck Exchange Club and frequent golfer at Hop Brook Golf Course.

In addition to his wife, Janet, of 64 years, Nick is survived by his son, Nicholas R. Macri and wife Joanne; his daughters, Susan Macri, Julie Ann Faulise and husband Rick; his grandchildren, Ashley and Matt Moniz, Daniel and Margaret Macri, Kendall Macri, Hayden Macri, Adriana Macri; and his great grandchild, Nora Moniz. Nick also leaves two sister-in-laws, Mary Macri and Anne Marie Mancini. Nick was not only an amazing dad and grandfather but also a great uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at Basilica of the Immaculate Conception; 74 W Main St, Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT. Family and Friends are invited for calling hours on Monday from 5-7pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, CT.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Nick’s memory, contributions can be made to Ecumenical Food Bank Inc, 75 Spring St, Naugatuck, CT.
