Joan (Thurston)  Hutt
Waterbury, CT Joan T. (Thurston) Hutt, 81, the widow of James R. Hutt, Sr., died peacefully on April 3, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Joan was born on November 24, 1936 in Watervliet, NY the daughter of the late John F. and Frances M. (Freeman) Thurston. Joan was a former Naugatuck resident and she lived in Waterbury for the past 58 years. She was a graduate of Lauralton Hall in Milford, CT and Bay Path Junior College in Longmeadow, MA.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Suzanne F. Atwood (Franklin H. Atwood, III); her sons, James R. Hutt, Jr., and John T. Hutt (Bonnie); her 9 grandchildren, Steven Vernale, Maisie Krischtschun, Katie Cason, Molly Cason, Nicholas Cason, Patrick Hutt, Dennis Hutt, Benjamin Hutt and Jacob Hutt; her 4 great grandchildren, Andrew Vernale, Anthony Vernale, Joshua Vernale and Logan Vernale and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Joan was predeceased by her daughter, Tara Cason.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please go directly to church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
