Obituary for Robert E. Cronin

Prospect, CT Robert E. Cronin, 83, the husband of the late Joan A. (Norton) Cronin, died peacefully on October 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born in Manhattan, NY a son of the late Edward and Margaret Cronin of Waterbury, CT, and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life, before moving to Prospect. Bob was a United States Navy Veteran. Bob retired from the chemical division of Uniroyal, Inc. where he had worked as a foreman. Bob enjoyed playing golf and being outside and he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a former member and Chairman of the Naugatuck Police Commission. Bob was a life member of the Naugatuck B.P.O.Elks, #967.

Bob is survived by his sons, Robert D. Cronin of West Hartford, CT, Alton L. Cronin and his wife, Kelly of Prospect, CT, and Sean Cronin and his husband, Christian Andresen of Bloomfield, CT; his daughters, Kathryn Davey and her husband, Jeffrey of Naugatuck, CT, Colleen Cidela and her husband, Joseph of Waterbury, CT, Margaret Cronin of Naugatuck, CT, and Suzanne Macary and her husband, Mark of Northfield, CT; his 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and his cousin Robert Wills, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please go directly to church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Bob’s memory, contributions may be made to DaVita Waterbury, 150 Mattatuck Heights Road, Waterbury, CT 06705.
