Middlebury, CT- Cheryl Lois (Levine) Dermody, 72, the wife of William “Bill” Dermody died peacefully on July 25, 2017 in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born on January 5, 1945 in Langley Field, Virginia, a daughter of the late James O. and Charlotte B. (Melendez) Levine. She spent many years working in the cafeteria at Middlebury Elementary School, and retired once Bill became sick with Alzheimer’s so she could devote herself to his well being.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 48 years Bill and their three daughters Doreen Krokosky and husband Ray; Maureen Bain and husband Jim; Kellie Weygant and husband Kris; her sister Donna Levine-Nordstrom and husband Gary; her brothers, James Levine and wife Marian; Robert Levine and wife Lynette; and her 7 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, July 28, 2017, at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West Street, Middlebury, CT. Those planning on attending the funeral Mass are kindly asked to go directly to the Church. Burial will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury, CT. Family and friends may visit from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Cheryl’s memory, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
