Obituary for Peter R. Alanskas

Peter R.  Alanskas
Middlebury, CT Peter R. Alanskas, 79, died suddenly Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Peter was born on October 29, 1936 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Peter J. and Ona (Lazdauskas) Alanskas and had lived in Middlebury for the past 30 years. He was a retired truck driver at Hubbard Hall and he was a Korean War U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. Peter was an avid outdoorsman, who especially loved hunting, fishing and gardening.

Peter is survived by his loving companion of over 21 years, Barbara Gandolfo; his daughters, Petrice Alanskas and her companion Jim Vodges, Diane Ryan and her husband Robert Ryan; his son, Richard Alanskas, his grandson, Angus MacDonald and his fiancé Kelly Oakes; his sisters, Patricia Russo and her husband William Russo and Lillian Smith and her husband Theodore Smith. Peter was predeceased by an infant son and by his sister Mary Archer. Peter was the former husband of Elizabeth (Chism) Alanskas.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00am. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
