Naugatuck, CT Mary E. Valentine, 92, the widow of Richard E. Valentine, died peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital.
Mary was born on February 27, 1924 in Williamsport, PA a daughter of the late Luther and Lavina (Bair) Gruver and was a Naugatuck resident for most of her life. Mary was a retired employee of the Connecticut Water Company and was a member of the Beacon Valley Grange.
Mary is survived by her son, Richard E. Valentine and his wife Barbara of Alpharetta, GA; her son, Jeffrey K. Valentine and his wife Janet of Middlebury, CT; her son Norman D. Valentine and his wife Clara of Oakville, CT; her daughter, Joyce Marino and her husband Marcus of Waterbury; her sister, Thelma Wojtczak and her husband Joseph of Naugatuck; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr. and Maureen, Cheryl and Eric, Kerrie and Gary, Alyssa and Tim, Justin and Toni, Jared, Derek and Alex; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers to honor Mary’s memory, contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 214 Meadow Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 or to the Beacon Valley Grange, 1354 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
