Obituary for Joseph A. Laverriere

Naugatuck – Joseph A. Laverriere, 81, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital/VITAS, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Helen Laverriere.

Mr. Laverriere was born on May 28, 1934 in Biddeford, Maine, a son of the late Henri and Irene Laverriere. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the Eagles Club in Naugatuck and Saco, Me. He attended church regularly at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck.

He is survived by two brothers, Adrian (Claudette) of Florida, Donald (Bettina), and a sister, Antoinette, of Maine.

He is also survived by four daughters, Lesley (Ron) Pettine of Naugatuck, Tina Gardner, Mia Lamb and Tricha (Don) Metayer of Maine.

He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Julie (Robert) Smith of Maine and a stepson, Edward (Kim) Thorpe of Michigan. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Joe (a.k.a) “Quarter-Keg” will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial celebration will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will be Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at the State of Connecticut Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
