Obituary for Margaret Ellen Wehner

Margaret Ellen (Kearney) Wehner, 73, of Bristol, formerly of Naugatuck, died peacefully, Friday March 13, 2015 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Edward Wehner, Jr.

Margaret was born January 7, 1942 at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, a daughter of the late Robert Timothy Kearney and Eve (Keogh) Kearney. She was a graduate of Hamden High School and Stone Business School.

Margaret raised two beautiful daughters while serving as a member and President of the Naugatuck Junior Women’s Club. She was also a former employee of Goodyear Tire.

Margaret loved sharing her artistic talent in ceramics and crafting with family and friends. Margaret and Ed travelled near and far with their small business “Love Buttons and Other Things”. They helped support many community organizations with proceeds from their sales. Margaret enjoyed Boston Red Sox baseball and was an avid UCONN basketball fan.

Margaret will be missed by her two daughters, Donna Lee (Wehner) Saccu and her husband Daniel S. Saccu, Jr. of Bristol, and Mary Jean (Wehner) Lombardi-Morin and her husband Patrick Morin of New Britain. She also leaves her brother, Dr. Timothy Kearney and his wife Jennifer, her nieces, Elizabeth and Anne, her nephew, Eric Wehner, (U.S. Navy, Ret.) of Maryland, and her niece Kimberly (Wehner) Campbell of North Carolina.

A Mass will be celebrated, Monday March 23, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen Street, Bristol. Private burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, or online at www.cthumane.org.
