Obituary for Dominic T. Finateri

DOMINIC T. FINATERI

NAUGATUCK, CT – Dominic T. Finateri, 94, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 in Hamden. He was the widower of Jane (Accousti) Finateri and Mary (Fernandes) Finateri.

Born in Naugatuck on May 28, 1920, he was the son of the late Massimino and Mariantonia (Feroni) Finateri. He resided for many years in Oakville and St. Petersburg, Florida and was a retired employee of Scovill Manufacturing Company, where he had worked for over 34 years.

Mr. Finateri was a United States Army veteran, who proudly served in World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands.

Dom always loved family gatherings, weekly card games and was an avid NY Yankee fan. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica, and loved his hot cup of “Java.”

Dom is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane Finateri Mariano, whom he resided with, his sister, Catherine Cuccuru, both of Naugatuck; four grandchildren, Christina, Nicole, Anthony and Jazmine Mariano; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Aria; several nieces and nephews; his step children, Dianna Hassan, Charles "Chuck" Paiva, Anthony Paiva, Theresa Edwards, Maria Arline, Gloria Sigmon, Carolyn Morris and Dolores Dunn and several step-grandchildren.

Dom was predeceased by his brothers, Nunzio Finateri and Angelo Finateri and his sisters, Ann Laudate and Carmella “Millie” Cante.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the special staff at Senior Care in Middlebury for their compassion and wonderful care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 30,2014 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
