NAUGATUCK — Roy Lee Yoder, 60, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sharon A. (McDonnell, Simpson) Yoder.

Roy was born on Nov. 8, 1953, and was the son of the late Donald A. and Ellen R. (Butts) Yoder. He was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. Roy loved racing in his car "Sudden Death", flying his model airplane, baseball, antique cars and motorcycles. He was also an amazing woodworker. Roy was a life member of HOG, Western Connecticut Harley Chapter, the NRA and the BPO Elks Lodge No. 967 of Naugatuck.

Besides his wife, he leaves his brother, James and his wife, Gail (Barthalomew) Yoder, and her sister, Donna; and his sister, Laurie E. (Yoder) Cordone; his stepdaughter, Robin L. (Simpson, Alcorace) Simpson; his stepson, Shawn C. Simpson; five grandchildren, Mathew F. Alcorace, Eugene F. Alcorace Jr., Tiffany L. Alcorace, Shawn T. Simpson and Sierra C. Simpson; two great-grandchildren, Alexander E. Alcorace and Elizabeth Grace Alcorace-Green; his mother-in-law, Delores H. (Wills) McDonnell; and sister-in-law Sandra L. (McDonnell) Harris and her husband, William. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Roy was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Leroy McDonnell, and his brother-in-law, Richard L. McDonnell.

The family would like to thank everyone at Beacon Brook Health Care Center and Saint Mary's Hospital who made Roy comfortable during his many admissions in the past several months.

Callings hours will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice in Roy's name.
